Give online through The City (You do not have to be a member of the City to give online, however, you may only make one-time gifts as a City guest)
Just as you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us – see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7
Being in a covenantal relationship with God and the body of Christ is an incredible privilege and sacred responsibility. Jesus said that just as we have freely received, we should freely give. Matthew 10:8
We are never more in the will of God than when we give to grow the Kingdom of God. Everything thing we have, including our money, is a gift from God. Because it is scriptural, Asbury teaches the principle of tithing (giving 10% of one’s income to the church) to its members. Offerings are above the tithe and allow us to express our generosity beyond the minimum. Not only do we encourage our members to tithe, we offer help for persons to align their finances to get out of debt and be in a position to be able to give more to the work of our Lord Jesus.
How Do I Give?
There are over 800 verses in the Bible about money, so how we spend the money God entrusts to us matters to Him. He’s given us lots of instructions with regards to money: take care of your family; leave an inheritance for your children’s children; avoid debt; diversify your investments because you don’t know what might happen; and probably most importantly – be generous. All donations made to Asbury UMC are held in the strictest confidence. Statements of Contributions are mailed in January (for the prior calendar year). Interim statements are mailed to individual donors by request only.
Asbury is pleased to offer several convenient giving methods. Consider taking advantage of one of these easy giving options as you give your tithes and offerings to the Lord through Asbury.
As an act of praise and worship, tithes and offerings may be presented during each weekend service. Simply place cash or check (payable to Asbury UMC) in the collection basket or plate as it is passed. It is not necessary to use a contribution envelope for a check, but be sure your name and address is on your check. If you give cash and want it documented for tax purposes, please put your cash in an envelope with your name on it.
Mail your donation to 980 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758. Be sure your name and address is on the envelope or check.
For many, electronic financial transactions are a way of life. Asbury recognizes this and is pleased to offer online giving. While this can have advantages, we want each person who chooses this option to make sure they are giving in a spirit that is pleasing to the Lord. While there are several ways to give electronically to the General Budget and Asbury Future, including automatic withdrawal from checking or savings accounts, debit cards and credit cards, we ask you not to use a credit card. Since financial institutions cannot distinguish between debit and credit cards online, we cannot accept debit cards without also accepting credit cards. Proverbs 22:7 says “… the borrower is servant to the lender”. We do not promote going into debt in order to give your tithes and offerings to the church. Your contribution can be set up as a one-time or recurring gift. Online giving is not only easy, but safe and secure. Click here to give online through the city.

Online Giving Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it safe to give online?
Yes. In many ways giving online is safer than writing a check in that an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen.
Q: Can I give with my debit or credit card?
Yes, but we ask you not to use a credit card. While use of a debit card is simply withdrawing money from your checking account, use of a credit card is, in effect, borrowing from your financial institution and promising to pay it back later. Since financial systems cannot distinguish between debit and credit cards, we cannot accept debit cards without also accepting credit cards. We do not promote going into debt in order to give your tithes and offerings through the church.
Q: Are there any fees involved with giving online?
No. You will not pay any fees with an online gift, but Asbury does pay a small processing fee for each transaction. Bank drafts are slightly less expensive than credit/debit donations. However, any small fees are mitigated by the fact that online gifts are a more efficient way for the church to process donations.
Q: Can I make a one-time contribution?
Yes. The system allows you the option of either making a one-time contribution or setting up a recurring contribution that is scheduled to come out of your bank account on the dates specified by you during the month.
Q: If I want to set up a recurring gift, what options do I have for the frequency of my gift?
For recurring gifts, you have the option of giving weekly, twice a month, every two weeks or once a month. For those using The City for online donations, it should be noted that only City users will have the option for recurring gifts although anyone can make a one-time gift on The City as a guest.
Q: Can I change my personal information or the amount or the frequency of my gift once I have set it up?
Yes. You can change or cancel your contribution at anytime before the date of your next contribution. Simply log in to the system using your user name and password and make the necessary changes in the system. (Please keep in mind that, per IRS regulations, once a gift has been made to the church it cannot be refunded.)
Q: Can I review my donation history online?
Yes. The City will allow you to view the history of all of your contributions.
Q: Will I still receive regular contribution statements from the church?
Yes. The church will continue to send contribution statements to your address on file according to IRS requirements.
Q: When will contributions be taken from my account?
Contributions will be taken from your specified bank account usually within 48 hours of the date you requested. This time frame allows time for the contribution to process through your bank and the church’s bank. If the date of your contribution falls on a weekend or a holiday, the transaction will be initiated on the next banking day.
Q: How will I know that I set up my gift correctly?
Immediately after setting up your contribution, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
Q: Will I be able to give to special Asbury campaigns (White Christmas, Children of the World, etc) online?
During times when these campaigns are occurring, you will be able to give a one-time contribution to support the given initiative or campaign.
Q: I have additional questions about online giving that have not been addressed. Who can I talk to?
Q: Does Asbury offer programs to help me align my finances in order to be able to give more?
YES. Click here for more information.
