Worship Arts

Our congregation is alive, richly varied and growing. From classics and traditional to contemporary styles, our desire is to reach everyone with the message of Jesus Christ. We invite you to take a moment to peruse our menu of music activities and find a place to become involved.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:15-17

Contemporary Worship Bands

There are several bands that serve in rotation in the Contemporary worship services.

Contemporary Worship Choir

Traditional Worship Choirs

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is the primary worship leader for the 8:45 and 10:30 worship services. We sing a mixed repertoire including traditional, spiritual, gospel and music of the masters. We gather on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 for hard work and lots of laughter. Chancel Choir is open to all throughout the year; please join us! Nursery provided.

For those that desire more, we offer opportunities for ensembles and solos drawing from the members of the two primary traditional choirs.

Festival Choir

The Festival Choir consists of the Chancel Choir and those not able to make a long-term commitment to the Choir. This Choir presents the music for Advent programs throughout December and special music during Lent and Easter. It is open to students in 9th grade through adults. Rehearsals are at 7pm on Wednesdays and nursery is provided.

Women’s Ensemble

Women’s Ensemble is an ensemble that meets on Wednesdays at 5pm in the Sanctuary. They sing for Sunday morning worship, local nursing homes and special services September through May. They sing a mixed repertoire including a cappella and accompanied music. This is not an auditioned group and a nursery is provided.

Men’s Ensemble

Men’s Ensemble meets on Wednesdays at 6pm in F001. This is a wonderful group singing many styles of music. The men’s ensemble sings regularly in the worship services, but also at local nursing homes and special services September through May.

Instrumental Music

The Asbury Orchestra is an integral part of Asbury’s traditional music ministries, serving as regular participants in traditional worship and providing musical presence and support for special presentations, especially during Advent and Easter. The orchestra performs both worship and classical repertoire  and its members come from all walks of life, representing a unique intergenerational blend of ages and musical backgrounds.  The group gathers each Wednesday at 7pm to rehearse music that inspires the soul and enhances the worship of the congregation.

Handbells have been rung in worship from the days when David praised God with bells and cymbals. Be a part of this visually and aurally beautiful and historical worship medium.

Asbury has two handbell groups of ringers who play periodically in worship services. The choirs are designed for those of all skill levels. Whether you are new to music or have been playing for years, you will find a place in the handbell choirs.
