In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.  Job 12:10 (NIV)

This verse continues to speak vividly to Lisa Brooks as she serves in local missions through her job at Choose Life.

Choose Life is a Christian, non-denominational ministry whose purpose is to offer life-affirming choices, education and compassionate counsel to those facing pregnancy-related decisions. They are located in the Medical District downtown, and also have a mobile unit that goes out to different parts of the area.

All services are free, and include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and two types of mentoring – one to those needing help in relationships and making healthy life choices, and the other for clients needing help with the practical day to day skills needed in parenting. An adoption advocate helps the birth mother as she steps through the option of adoption. Choose Life also offers post-abortion recovery counseling for those who have abortion as part of their past. Their number one goal is to share the Gospel of Jesus to every client.

We are thankful to get to support this local mission partner through prayers, contributions, thrift store donations, and by hosting Choose Life’s annual Father Daughter Purity Ball. It is a blessing to come alongside this ministry as they walk through difficult places with young women on a daily basis. Many have come to know Jesus for the first time through this ministry. Others have reconnected with God because staff and volunteers pour out God’s love to each person who walks through their doors.

The 2016 Choose Life Father-Daughter Purity Ball was held on March 12 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Madison, AL. The event included a welcome and opening prayer by Choose Life Director Kathy Hall and a time of encouragement to purity with guest speaker Teresa Pugh. The father’s gave a pledge of prayer and integrity to their daughters and the daughters gave a pledge of purity. There was dancing with live music by the Mount Zion 228 Band and wedding-like refreshments. It was an enjoyable and meaningful evening for all who attended. Contact Choose Life for info about their next Purity Ball on February 4, 2017.

Lisa says, “[Through working at Choose Life] I’m more mindful of God’s grace to us, because we don’t deserve His love or grace, but He freely gave it to us.” Learn more about how God is making broken lives whole through this life-giving ministry as you watch Lisa’s story:
