As Countdown to Christmas is in full swing, we want to pause and take a minute to give you an update on all of our Countdown to Christmas initiatives. Once again, all of you who are a part of the Asbury Family have been super generous in caring for others during this season!

Holiday Food Box Drive

As your family gathers around the table for your holiday meal, other families in the Madison area will be doing the same. Many of them will have a holiday meal because of your participation in our Holiday Food Box Drive. To date, 475 food boxes have been returned full of all the fixings for a delicious meal to be shared with family and friends. But it’s not too late to join in! We have a number of empty food boxes that still need to be filled. Grab a box, fill it up with the items listed and return it by December 4th. What a meaningful way to bless another family this holiday season!

Operation Christmas Child

You are responsible for putting a lot of smiles on the faces of children around the world this Christmas! We were overwhelmed and humbled by the number of Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes you supplied this year. In fact, you kept our delivery man, Mike Hurley, quite busy as he collected boxes and transported them to the main collection site for Madison. Last year, as a congregation, we collected 485 boxes. However, this year, you were even more amazing. Six hundred and forty-six boxes were donated! That means 646 children will receive a shoebox filled with goodies! And, they will receive it from ministry partners on the ground who can share the love of Jesus with them!

Upper Sand Mountain Toy Drive

One hundred and thirty toys have already been collected so far for the Upper Sand Mountain Toy Drive! These will help so much to supply a unique Christmas toy store that allows parents to shop for their children at a reduced cost. Parents within the area around the parish will be able to take the gifts home, wrap them, and place them under their Christmas tree. Imagine the joy of the children opening the presents on Christmas morning – and the deep joy of the parents who were able to provide presents for their children! If you haven’t gotten a change to give yet, there’s still time to pick up an extra toy while you are shopping and place it under one of the Christmas trees located in the Hospitality Area between Hope and Faith buildings or in the Grace Concourse by December 4.

Lifeline Foster Hope Tree

We are also thrilled that we get to provide gifts and needed supplies for foster children in Madison County and China. We still have several weeks to bring in supplies and gifts for the Lifeline Foster Hope Tree, but you already took over 300 tags off the tree last week! There are more tags available if you still want to help. Final drop-off is December 18. But again, we were humbled and amazed at your generous response.

And, we have one more opportunity coming. Our kickoff for The Greatest Journey is December 4, so plan to bring $6 with you next Sunday and stay tuned!

From both local and global mission teams, we want to thank you. Even though we are only halfway through the Countdown to Christmas, you have already responded in full force to help meet so many needs this Christmas season.
