In the beginning, we were given a promise.
At the moment when failure and shame threatened to define our existence, this promise
sparked the first feeling of hope. One day, the threats of the enemy would be crushed.
This promise would be passed down and recounted through centuries until finally,
during a time of great distress and despair, we were given more promises to cling to—a
great light known as the Prince of Peace, a spirit of joy to release us from darkness, and
the presence of love to heal our deepest wounds.
Finally, at just the right time, these promises of hope, peace, joy, and love that had been
burning in every heart were revealed.
A Savior was born. The Light had come at last.
And this same Light continues to offer His salvation to us all. These promises echo all
throughout history, and this Advent season we rest and rejoice in their fulfillment in our
own lives as this Good News is revealed to us here and now.
