Stewardship

The fundamental desire of every follower of Jesus is simply to please God. While that statement might seem simple, it is often hard to know just how to do this. What does following Jesus truly look like? What does faith look like?

In this five-week series we will discover just what faith looks like as we examine the lives of those in Hebrews 11; a chapter known as “The Faith Hall of Fame.” Understanding faith is integral to our journey as followers of Jesus because without it, it is impossible to please God. Don’t worry, it actually is pretty simple—so join us as we uncover the Fruits of Faith together.

The chase never ends. Everything seems to echo “more, more, more”— the next paycheck, the bigger house, a new trend. The financial finish line seems ever moving, leaving us clinching our hands thinking “if only I had___, then I would finally be free.”

But what if freedom wasn’t found in having more, but in something else entirely?

In a world where scarcity seems inescapable, Jesus promises us abundant life. During this 5-week series we will learn how our generosity opens our hands to receive God’s fullness. As we step out in obedience, letting go of what the world says offers security, we instead embrace His provision.  Opening our hands is scary, but we aren’t walking this path alone. May we become ever more like the Savior we love—a Generous God, and Generous People.

What could Asbury look like if we became a church of groups, not simply a church with groups? Discover more about the power of groups in the life of a disciple and how living faithfully in community is what real life together is all about.

This series will focus on deepening discipleship including living generously. The final four sermons are based on Curtis Sergeant’s “The Only One.” The series begins with a baptism Sunday for Asbury Kids confirmation candidates and includes All Saints Sunday and Christ the King Sunday. This also takes place during our Gifts of Hope season of giving starting Oct 30 and includes a highlight of Orphan Sunday on November 13.

This 4-week sermon series will unpack 4 different key moments from the story of Ruth and will invite you to live radically for Jesus in the midst of loss and tragedy.
