The yearning expectation that builds during the season of Advent is one that began long ago. All of history has been expectant of something to fill our deepest hopes and desires. And yet, as we look out through the windows of our lives and see the glittering views around us, we can easily become distracted from the true treasure we’ve already been offered. But the songs of those who helped first reveal that treasure to the world still echo across the generations to us today. The songs of Zechariah, Mary, Simeon, and the angels and shepherds burst forth with the good news of the One who fulfills each and every expectation of our hearts. This Advent, let’s join the chorus and sing the songs of Christmas.
