FAQs
The Asbury Residency is a full-time, 12-month opportunity running from August through July for those who wish to discern their calling, gain hands-on ministry experience, and discover and develop their spiritual gifts. Two to four residents are chosen annually to enter into a commitment alongside Asbury leaders for a time of coaching, teaching, and ministry involvement. At the end of the program, Asbury provides assistance with next steps through a network of churches and other partners.
The Residency is designed for recent college graduates or those in a gap year to take time to explore the possibility of entering vocational ministry, as well as to identify spiritual gifts that could transfer back into the marketplace. You might not know what your calling is or your spiritual gifts. This is where you can find out.
Residents will spend 11 months receiving theological training and lots of ministry experience in various settings across Asbury's two campuses and over 17 ministry areas. With hands on access to ministry opportunities, residents will receive one-on-one coaching to identify and steward their gifting in ministry. The final 12th month of the Residency is intended to facilitate a transition into their identified calling upon completing the program.
A monthly stipend will be paid to each resident over the 12 months. Residents will reside in the Madison/Huntsville area for the year and are responsible for their own housing. Asbury will assist in finding affordable housing as needed. Health insurance is not provided and Residents are encouraged to continue on their current healthcare plans.
